In recent months we have clocked up many hours in small planes, visiting very remote communities across Queensland to listen to people’s views about how more Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people can become involved in the Royal Flying Doctor Service – Queensland Section. With over 60% of clients identifying as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander it makes sense for RFDS to employ people from these communities who know the local cultural protocols and community members. As we develop the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Employment Strategy for RFDS we are utilising our well-honed visual communication skills to present information to groups and to create a document that is friendly and appealing.
